Markha River
Markha River is located in ladakh and is regarded as the most scenic and popular place for ladakh treks. The river is mainly known for its panoramic views. Markha valley is particularly named after river markha. There are various Buddhist monasteries located around river markha amongst which tache gompa is the most famous one. It is over 200 branches and 1000 monks. An annual festival is also held in the month of July in the monastery.
The area was one abounded with wolves and snow leopards which have currently dwindled. Kang yatse located on top of the nimaling plateau is a prime attraction of the place. The best time visit river markha is between July to October.
Course
The river passes through markha valley located above kang Yatze Mountain. The Kang Yatze Mountain is located at an altitude of 21000 ft. river markha also passes towards the south of stok kangri mountains with an altitude of 6153m. The river is conveniently accessible from ganda la pass which is located near spituk.

River markha is a major tributary of Zanskar River.

Air
Leh is the nearest airport through which one can reach river markha. After landing to Leh airport one can hire taxi to reach the Markha River. Leh airport is directly connected with Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Railways
If one desires to travel via railways then kalka is the nearest railway station.
Road
Taxis and buses can be hired for reaching the exact locations in the place.
