Gambhir River
With its origination point is in the hills nearby Karauli village in Sawai Madhopur District in Rajasthan state of India, famous Gambhir River crosses through the state until it enters in Utter Pradesh. It keeps on changing its directions while flowing in the state. It first enters in the Utter Pradesh and then flows back to Rajasthan until it takes another entry into Utter Pradesh to merge with the Yamuna River.
Course
Gambhir River may not have the status of most noticed river on the national level but it has definitely marked an important position in the regional level, especially in the context of the two adjacent states of Rajasthan and Utter Pradesh. The river is main tributary which merges with the famous Yamuna River upon flowing till the Up state. It flows from the southwards area to the northwards in Rajasthan till it reaches to the Kanjoli village (Toda Bhim).
Gambhir River crosses the northeastern portions of Mertha of Roopbas block just before it enters the adjoining Uttar Pradesh state from Rajasthan where it has been originated. Interestingly, this river courses back to Rajasthan near the Catchapaura village at the Dholpur District soon after flowing for a particular distance in the Utter Pradesh. It forms a boundary with Utter Pradesh & Rajasthan to merge into Yamuna & to complete its zigzag course.

Tributaries
Sesa, Kher and Parbati are the main tributaries of Gambhir River. This river has several other tributaries in the course of its flowing just after origin in Rajasthan state to ending into the Utter Pradesh to Rajasthan repeatedly while covers several locations in both the states.
This river plays key roles in providing enough water to the Keoladev Ghana Bird Century in Bharatpur in the Rajasthan state. As Gambhir River is a seasonal river, its flowing is concentrated only for the rainy season.
