Facts
The word Girna has originated from the name of Goddess Giraja (Parvati the better half of Lord Shiva). The basic plateau of Girna river and its river valley are blessed with fertile and alluvial soil and are used for intensive irrigation. The River which is popularly known as “RISING IN THE WESTERN HILLS OF THE KALVAN SUB DIVISION OF NASIK” has a unique distinction of being taken through the northern range slopes, after it flows for over 150 miles. Then it falls into River Tapti near Nanded and thus one can conclude that it has equal distribution at both ends viz Nasik and Khandesh. The river passes through Nasik in a stretch and at Khandesh it diverts to north eastern direction, till it reaches Jalgaon, where it takes a turn towards northern direction and again towards northwest and thus flows for several miles and almost runs in the parallel direction of Tapti River. Also Jalgaon, Bhusawal, Chopada are the nearby places of importance.
More Description
