The State of Maharasthra in India, where Chamorshi is situated has the privilege of being the owner of Dina River which runs through this place.
History of the River
Chamorshi, which falls under the Gadchiroli district, was ruled by the Nagas and Maan rulers years ago and during their regime, Vairagarh from Armori and Teepagarh from Dhanora Taluk were the headquarters. Also Rashtraputs, Yadavs and Chalukyas ruled this place. During 13th Century, Khandkya Ballarshah established Chandrapur and it was passed on to several hands till it came to Marathas control who ruled till 1853. British who took control from 1854 and formed the Chandrapur district and also in 1905, it was the British who formed the Taluk of Gadchiroli. The origin of River Dina goes back to the time when the river served as the main source for drinking and also for irrigation purposes due to its flow during the entire year.
