More Description
Daman Ganga River which is having its origin from Nasik in Maharasthra also passes through other States. There is a Government proposal to link the Daman Ganga River to the Pinjal River, towards the southern side which will pave way for deviating the water to the Southern Part of Mumbai through Pinjal, however, this was not accepted by Gujarat in 2003. Unfortunately, the Daman Ganga has a reputation of being the most polluted river in India, as per the findings of the National Campaign, which was formed with an intention of Saving the Daman Ganga for saving the rights of fisher men throughout the region of Kutch to Kanyakumari.
The pollution of the river due to different dye factories situated in Vapi has made dirty waters flow instead of river water, thereby killing the livestock and cattles. The pipelines are leaking and one can find dead fishes in the river.
Other notable features of the river are:
- Daman Ganga is the most polluted Indian River as per reports available.
- Release of chemicals and wastages by many pharmaceuticals companies in Vapi, has caused severe problems to the nearby residents who get only dirty water supply.
- Pinkish red water is released which has handicapped fishing work in the area.
- Livestocks and Goats are affected due to flow of chemicals near the river through leaking pipes.
