Few words about Shopping Malls in India:
With variety of names such as the shopping mall, shopping arcade, shopping centre, shopping precinct or the mall, this complex of shops has a number of merchandisers and shop owners located in a building or more buildings. Within the building, are interconnecting walkways were the visitors and shoppers can easily move from one shop to another. This place which consists of a parking area is a modernised and indoor version of the traditional marketplace.
In the city of Dongguan, in China is the South China Mall which is the largest mall ever, having a floor area of 892,000 m2 (9,600,000 sq ft). Second to this mall, is the next largest shopping mall in Beijing in China and is named as the Golden Resources Mall, the total area of which is 680,000 m2 (7,300,000 sq ft). Third largest mall is present in the SM City North EDSA in Philippines that started way back in 1985 and this mall has a floor area in total of 460,000 m2 (5,000,000 sq ft). With the gross floor area of 386,000 m2 (4,150,000 sq ft), the SM Mall of Asia in Philippines is the fourth largest and it started in May 2006.
In Gurgaon in India, is under construction, the Mall of India, which will be one of the largest in the world and the largest mall in India with a floor area of around 4,500,000 sq ft (418,1000 m2). The total built up area is supposed to be about 55.74 hectares or 6 million sq ft. DLF universal is promoting and developing the mall at the NH-8 highway at Delhi-Gurgaon border, where the Ambi Mall is also present. It is supposed to have a parking space for 10,000 cars and will be spread over a total of 32 acres. Due to some changes in the designs and the incorporation of an office complex, the opening of the mall to the shopper is scheduled for December 2011, which was earlier to be done in October 2009.
