Haryana state has an excellent history as part of Kuru region of India. It shares borders with Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan states in the north, west and south respectively. The eastern border touches Yamuna River with boundary sharing Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh state. Haryana surrounds Indian federal capital New Delhi from northern, western and southern sides and so remains close to it. The unique geography of Haryana in relation the capital has lead large chunks of state area being included in the National Capital Region.

It is predominantly an agrarian state and contributes a lot towards India’s foodstuffs needs. Contribution of Haryana in popularizing country’s Green Revolution is undeniable. This step had turned India self-reliant as a food producer way back in 1960s. Haryana attained the position of one of the wealthiest Indian states in less than half a century.

History: Capital of Haryana state, Chandigarh is also the capital of nearby state of Punjab. Chandigarh is a very well planned city. Haryana was part of erstwhile Punjab province of pre-independent India. Haryana was carved out from Punjab in 1966 as 17th Indian state formed on linguistic grounds. The state is one of the major food-grains and milk producers in the country.

The state has attained position of one of the more economically developed areas in wholw of South Asia. Besides its booming agriculture, Haryana has a fair amount of industries. Host to India’s largest producer of passenger cars, two-wheelers and tractors, Haryana can now claim to be a huge contributing factor towards industrial growth of India.

Since its formation on 01 November 1966, Haryana state became one of the more progressive states of India under the leadership of its first chief minister, Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma.

Culture: Haryana is perhaps one of the Indian states that has a healthy blend of urban and rural cultural amalgamation. Gurgaon, one of the new cities, has emerged rapidly and is world’s prominent centre for India’s burgeoning information technology outsourcing industry as well as automobile industry. Few of India’s largest automobile manufacturers have their plants and corporate establishments in this fast growing metropolitan city. Other fast growing cities of Haryana include Yamunanagar, Panipat, Panchkula and Faridabad. These too have emerged as industrial centres. Panipat is known for its refinery works.

The state, located between 27°37' to 30°35' N latitude and between 74°28' and 77°36' E longitude, ranges between 700 to 3600 ft above sea level so faces extreme heat in summers and sees temperatures often going up to 50 Degrees Centirgade, and winter temperatures touch a low of  1 degree Cnetigrade. Haryana has varied rainfall, its Shivalik Hills region is wettest while Aravali Hills regions remain dry..

According to 2011 census 89.7% population of Haryana is Hindu, 6.2% Sikh and 4% Muslim. Total population of Haryana was 25,353,081. The rich cultural heritage of this state makes it fast developing state in India. Unique folklore, traditions, age old customs especially meditation, Yoga and religious and social traditions abound in Haryana.

The festivals and other local celebrations of Haryana see extreme enthusiasm and participation. Haryanavi language describes its tradition and culture. Punjabi is also spoken which happens to be second official language of this state. Local languages Ahirwati, Hindi and English are common.  

Asia's largest timber industry is located in Yamunanagar, Haryana. Yamunanagar also has HPGCL thermal power plant, hydro power plant and one of India’s largest Railway workshop . Ambala city is largest producer of Scientific Apparatuses in Haryana and is often referred as Science City.

All four divisions of Haryana state Ambala, Rohtak, Gurgaon and Hisar have seen rapid industrial progress. This state has total 81 cities across 21 districts, 47 sub-divisions, 67 tehsils, 45 sub-tehsils and 116 blocks. The blend of cities and villages make it very diverse.

Haryana lies in the northern part of India in the Kuru region slight way from Himalayan foothill. Yamuna River flows on its eastern side bordering it with other states. The capital of Haryana is Chandigarh which is a common capital for both Haryana and Punjab considered as the nation union territory. The other important cities are Gurgaon, Kurukshetra and Panipat. This state is economically very sound because of it silt based fertile soil. Gurgaon is among the most advance growing city because the presences of multinational companies have elevated the standard. Kurukshetra and Panipat have witnessed many historical events. Large scale industries have helped to raise the economic status of this state.
