Kurukshetra, a state in the state of Haryana is famous for the battle of Mahabharata fought between Pandavas and Kauravas. The name Kurukshetra is derived from King Kuru, ancestor of Kauravs as well as Pandavs. As Pandavas fought the battle to restore “Dharma” the place was earlier called as Dharmakhetra.

War of the pandavs against kauravs was fought in this iconic place and it was in this battle where Krishna preached Bhagwad Gita. During the reign of Ashoka, people from all over the world used to come to Kurukshetra for learning.

River Sarasvati and river Drishadvati flow along the borders of the district. Kurukshetra is only one hundred sixty Kilometers from the capital city of India.

The place has very much historical importance. Hence, tourists all over world come to pay a visit to the place where the fierce battle for eighteen days was fought. There are many historical sites connected with the epic of Mahabharata which gives enough boost to the tourism industries. Some of them are
