Silver Jubilee Railway Bridge Bharuch
The pre-Independent Indian Railways witnessed an expansion in the railway lines in Gujarat. The railways department constructed Silver Jubilee Railway Bridge Bharuch in the Western Indian state of Gujarat while expanding its operation. This bridge is located between the two prominent railway stations of the state, Ankleswar and Bharuch junctions which are popular trade centers as well.
Built on the famous Narmada River in Gujarat, this river connects railways from one part of this state to other and thereby connecting the country through the railways networks. The Indian Railways has enlisted Silver Jubilee Railway Bridge Bharuch as its 502nd railway bridge in the country. Two companies M/s Braithwaite & Co (India) Ltd and Hindustan Construction Company Ltd were involved to build the bridge.
Construction task began in 1933 and after the unstoppable efforts of two years the Silver Jubilee Railway Bridge Bharuch had finally completed in the year 1935. The bridge had been named after the Silver Jubilee of King George V of UK.
Description of the Bridge
Silver Jubilee Railway Bridge Bharuch is the 1406.68m or 1.406 km long bridge which serves the Indian Railways. It has been designed with total 17 spans. Two spans of it are 18.28m and 76.20m respectively while the rest 15 of them measure to 87.48m each respectively.
Specifications
Mild steel had been used to develop and design the Silver Jubilee Railway Bridge Bharuch girders to increase its durability. This bridge is built for the double track electrified railway lining. The lines are still operational which keep this railways bridge much into notice.
