Zee Cine Awards

The Zee Cine Award with its shorter calling “ZCA" is a recognition awards conferred on best performers in Hindi film productions, instituted by Zee Television network. These awards are presented in a colorful ceremony primarily at Mumbai, and also at various centres including foreign countries, where Hindi film viewers live.

History

The Zee Cine Awards were started in the year 1998 and they are awards of a mixed category. The recipients of these awards are decided partly through public opinion polls and partly by the judgments made by panel of juries appointed for the purpose.

Since its inception, ZCA has gained substantial popularity for its impressive awards ceremony conducted for the benefit of Indian Hindi film viewers as well as to the viewers of Zee Network programmes.

The first few events of Zee Cine Awards presentation was held in Mumbai, until 2004, thereafter the ZCA went international conducting the Awards ceremony in other countries such as Dubai, London, Mauritius, Malaysia, etc. London hosted the ceremony twice in 2008. ZCA was not held for two years in 2009 and 2010, however resumed in 2011.

The 2012 ceremony was conducted in Singapore and in 2013 it was held in Mumbai.

Awards

Zee Cine Awards are decided in two editions one by viewers’ Choice and the other by Independent Jury’s Choice.

The Viewer's choice selects the Best Film, the Best Director, the Best Actor, the Best Actress and the Best Track of the Year.

Jury's choice decides the Best Film (Critics), the Best Director (Critics), the Best Actor (Critics), the Best Actress (Critics), the Best Supporting Actor, the Best Supporting Actress, the Best Villain, the Best Comedian, the Most Promising Director, the Best Male Debut, the Best Female Debut, the Best Male Playback Singer, theBest Female Playback Singer, the Best Music Director, the Best Lyricist and Lifetime Achievement

Technical Awards are also given among ZTE which include the Best Background Music, the Best Dialogue, the Best Story, the Best Screenplay, the Best Cinematography, the Best Editing, the Best Action, the Best Art Direction, the Best Audiography, the Best Choreography, the Best Costumes, the Best Processing, the Best Publicity, the Best Song Recording, and the Best Visual Effects

ZCA has also given a number of Special Awards in 2004, 2007 and 2008 recognizing talents of Senior Bollywood actors like Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Subhash Ghai, Shahrukh Khan, Gauri Khan, Katrina Kaif and Ritesh Deshmukh.
