South Indian International Movie Awards

SIIMA as it is shortly referred is a new find in South Indian film society, was launched with a banner South Indian International Movie Awards in 2012. This confers and honors on the films of South Indian origin, namely Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, which are almost 500 in number produced every year. The focus of this forum is to take up the supreme artistic and technical rendering of these films to the international level, the award function itself conducted in various countries attracting the attention at the same time facilitating members of South Indian fraternity.

History

This new initiative was taken up by Vishnuvsrdhan Induri, who is known for his contribution to Cricket society, by launching Celebrity Cricket League earlier and launched by conducting its first event at Dubai, on June 21-22, 2012.

While participating in the function of FICCI Media Entertainment Business Conclave (MEBC), the Governor of Tamil Nadu, Hon. K Rosiah appealed to the members of South Indian Film Industry to make efforts to make South Indian Films stand at par with International films and let the world know of its importance. The entertainment industrialist Vishnuvsrdhan Induri took up this advice and made arrangements to launch SIIMA.

Award Categories

The SIIMA categories are basically in distinct groups, such as

• the Best Film, the Best Director, the Best Cinematographer, the Best Debutant Producer and the Best Debutant Director
• the Best Actor, the Best Actor in a Supporting Role, the Best Male Debutant, the Best Actress, the Best Actress in a Supporting Role, the Best Female Debutant, the Best Comedian and the Best Actor in a Negative Role
• the Best Music Director, the Best Lyricist, the Best Male Playback Singer, the Best Female Playback Singer, the Best Fight Choreographer, the Best Dance Choreographer

All the awards are considered by duly appointed panel of juries and public polling. The awardees are conferred with the recognition in a popular function in countries outside India.

The SIIMA Awards are given in separate parts on two different days. The upcoming and promising South Indian film artists are honored on the first day function which is called Generation Next Awards, while on the second day the main SIIMA Awards are presented.

SIIMA’S Programmes

The forthcoming SIIMA programme is scheduled to be held in U.A.E,on September 12th & 13th, 2013 and the Local Event Partner for SIIMA 2013 in UAE is going to be Anjan Star Events.
