The Hindu Literary Prize
Awarded in the fiction category of writing in India, Hindu Literary Prize is an honor for emerging as well as established writers for their outstanding contributions to promote literature. The key purpose behind the establishment of this literary award was to support and motivate the Indian literati for literary contributions in English language. This award is given to those writing in English and those writers having worked for English translation of literary works in the Indian languages.
With an aim to recognize and promote the writers in English, Hindu Literary Prize is an important initiative to encourage the English writings in Indian subcontinent. The purpose is also to give new impetus to the new creative talents in the country who writes in English. This award also supports and motivates seasonal writers in the English language. This award has already become yardstick the literary world even though it has not completed half a decade of its establishment.
History of Hindu Literary Prize
Established in the year 2010, the Hindu Literary Prize is also called The Hindu Best Fiction Award for the Indian writers contributing in English language. Promoted and sponsored by literary section of India's prominent English newspaper, The Hindu, this award is an initiative from The Hindu Literary review. This award has dual aim of recognizing the English writings in literature and those having been translated into English from other languages as well. First Hindu Literary Prize was called The Hindu Best Fiction Award which this English newspaper awarded in the year 2010 to promote, support and motivate literature & fiction in the Indian subcontinent.
