Dhyan Chand Award
Named after legendary hockey player of India, Dhyan Chand Award is highest honour conferred upon individuals for lifetime Achievement in games and sports. Administered by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, Dhyan Chand Award was introduced in 2002 that comprises of a cash prize of Rs 5 Lakhs, a scroll of honour and a plaque.
For the year 2013, four individulas were awarded the Dhyan Chand Award viz., Para-Sports - Giriraj Singh; Sequeira (Athletics) - Mary D’Souza; Hockey - Syed Ali and Wrestling - Anil Maan.
For the current year 2015, Zafar Iqbal headed selection committee recommended the following names: Hockey- Romeo James; Tennis- S P Misra and Volley Ball - TPP Nair.
