Apsara Film & Television Producers Guild Awards
This sort of an award is that type of award which is inured by the Guild of Apsara Producers so as to recognize their excellent work in the film and television. The award was first of all started by the eminent scholar and filmmaker Amit Khanna. This is the reason as to why these awards have been very big award events since 2004. The gold statuette which is in 22-karat was sculpted and designed by the jewelry brand Tanishq.
It is the selected members of the guild who give the Nominations for the awards. In order to provide transparency in the awards, the ballots cast by the guild members are then taken to a common venue for the final counting.
History
It was on May 28, 2004 that the first awards ceremony was held in Mumbai, India. This ceremony was held to honor the distinguished film and television achievements of the 2003-04 film and television season. This award giving ceremony is usually held at the beginning of the subsequent year. However, the fourth edition of the award ceremony (2008–09) was postponed as a sign of respect to the victims of the 2008 Mumbai attacks. With the passage of time the Guild has taken upon itself the organizing funds like the Help Telethon Concert to help the victims of tsunami as well as in conducting seminars & conventions with eminent trade bodies like that of FICCI and CII.
