Stardust Awards

Stardust Magazine has instituted these awards recognizing performances of Hindi movie personalities in an annual ceremony conducted by them. The magazine chooses the winners through its annual magazine polls and also appointing distinguished persons as Juries.

History

Stardust award functions started in the year 2003 by the annual Stardust Magazine which is a movie magazine. This award goes to enthuse talents in film industry, congratulating current stars and recognizing some of the outstanding personalities of film industry posthumously.

Stardust award feature is also a much watched item in the TV screen. The 10th Max Stardust Awards function of 2012 held on 10th February 2012 was telecast on Max on the 26th February 2012 at 9pm.

Likewise, the 11th max stardust award function of 2013 held on 26th January 2013 was telecast on 10th February 2013 at 9.00 only on Set MAX.

Stardust Awards

Stardust Film Awards come in four forms, viz., Reader’s choice, Jury’s Choice, Searchlight Winners and Special Awards.

• Reader's choice is one edition of Stardust Awards, which goes by the Readers’ options on various best performances of a film. Apart from common choices of the best director, best actor etc, this option covers some unique features like Stardust Hottest Film that recognizes a star who has made such an outstanding impact on the film. This award is operational since 2003 and if not every year, in whichever year the readers find such an influencing personality, the award is given. Likewise, another unique Award classified under this category is Dream director award, the awardee is chosen by a distinguished Jury.
• Jury's choice is another edition of Stardust Awards, which chooses awardees through a distinguished Jury in its annual magazine. Stardust makes it a point to bring in novel titles and recognition in its awards such as Superstar of Tomorrow, Best Breakthrough Performance, Standout Performance by a Music Director, New Musical Sensations, Hottest Film, Hottest New Director, Exciting New Face, Best Actress in an Ensemble Cast, New Menace, etc, some of the awards presented in the years when they find such distinct performances.
• Searchlight winners is the Stardust Award edition, which recognizes by readers’ options through its annual magazine, specifically spotting out the best film, the best director, the best actor and the best actress. This award is regularly rendered every year.
• Special awards focus on legends of the Industry, who have contributed significantly to the film industry over some period. Some of the recognitions are done even posthumously, since these awards are marks of history. Stardust special awards have been given to Raj Kapoor, Nargis, Mohammed Rafi posthumously as the Best Director of the Millennium, Best Artist of the Millennium and the Best Singer of the Millennium respectively. Among the living great personalities, Amitabh Bachchan has been recognized three times as the Best Artist of the Millennium, the Star of the Century and Pride of the Film Industry. Rajesh Khanna, Shatrughan Sinha, Feroz Khan and Vyjayanthimala have been recognized with the Pride of the Film Industry Award.
