Namakkal is a town in Namakkal in Tamil Nadu. The headquarters of this district are also situated here. It is the first in all over Asia for ecological management, specifically it is the provision & preservation of water supply, town planning , solid & sewage management, lighting & other communal services. This is also named as Poultry city , Educational and Transport city. It is a branch of Kongu Nadu area . Namakkal was under the rule of Atiakula King who was called Gunasila and married with Pallava King. Later it was overrunby the Cholas and so on .Numerous poultry units are running here, consequently about 1500 Poultry or Cattle Feed manufacturing units also run here.Tapioca is cultivated in Namakkal District in surplus amount . About 350 units are engaged in the production of Sago and Starch here , which is a result of using tapioca as a raw material. This is a good market for Sago & Sago products in North India.It is also well known for the Truck Body Building Activity. The jackfruit is also grown here on the mountains. It is known for its fragrance and taste & is often saturated in wild honey that is also harvested here.
