Chunar is situated in the Mirzapur district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh and is considered to be one of the most ancient towns of the country. The railway lines which go through Chunar leads to some of the major destinations in the country like Delhi, Howrah, Varanasi and Tatanagar. The Varanasi National Highway 7 also makes its way through Chunar. Chunar has also got the significance of connecting the holy city of Varanasi with the pilgrimage destination of India famously known as Kashi. Chunar tough being a small town has a major historical significance. As per the holy book of the Hindus named Puranas, Lord Vishnu took his first step in his Vaman incarnation in the Great King Balis Dynasty in this place named Chunar which was previously named Charanadri. The people in Chunar are very simple, humble and very much down to earth and earn their livelihood by agriculture and agri based business.
