Pharenda is a also known as Anand Nagar and is situated in the province of Uttar Pradesh in northern part of India. It is approximately 44 kilometres at the north of Gorakhpur near the border with Nepal. The district in which Pharenda is located is called Maharajganj. This is situated on the Buddhist Circuit which is built from Sarnath to Lumbini.

When we are talking about Pharenda, it is worth mentioning that there are two PG colleges in the town. The nearest railway station to Pharenda is Anand Nagar where broad gauge trains of Indian railway running between Gorakhpur and Nautanwa which passes through Anand nagar. There is also a forest which is known as Barahsingha Reserve. The nearest market place to the tehsil is the well-known Dhani Bazar which is at Brijmanganj. The civic facilities are just average and the roads and other infrastructure needs to be developed in a big way. There is no shortage of drinking water. Underground water is widely used for drinking purposes. There are some places of interest as well which can be visited once you are there in Anand Nagar.
