Chauri is a small town in the north part of India and is in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India, this has an event in the past in the year 1922 in the month of February on the 5th day wherein the policeman had attacked the volunteers of Congress and had fired at them killing 26 people and after their ammunition got over they went back to the police station, and the enraged crowd asked them to come out and when the policemen didnt pay any heed they set the police station on fire, in which 21 policemen were burnt alive.

In the year 1922 the place Chauri got prominence and took part in Gandhijis Non cooperation movement, the people of this place were influenced by Gandhijis movement and had joined it. The place has a hospital, higher secondary girls school, school for boys and girls for the primary section, intermediate colleges, maternity centre, child welfare centre, Chauri also has small scale industries which manufactures re rollers and agricultural implements and is also famous for dal and gur mandi.

Chauri is a small place with less population of about 2096 people and the area is just 3.89sq km with a good literacy rate.
