Also Siddharth Nagar which is situated on its north, got the honor of becoming a abode of Lord Rama along with his brother Laxman in the Ashram of Rishi Vashishtha which gave origin to the former name of Basti i.e. Vashishtha. Established in 1865, Basti was once covered with forest which is now converted into a quite populated area.

Late Shri Thakur Prasad Ojha was the producer of this movie who also happens to hail from this district and make it big in the bollywood industry.
