Bodinayakanur is one of the tehsil in the Theni district of the Tamil Naidu state of the nation. The town has higher literacy rate for both males and females as compare to our average national literacy rate. The agriculture is the major occupation of the region due to fertile land which is highly suitable for the growth of the Crops like rice, sugarcane, banana, maize and spices pepper, cardamom etc. The town is also called Cardamom city of the country as the aromatic seeds which is used as seasoning is grown plenty in the region. The tehsil is situated between the states of Kerala and Tamil Naidu and also well connected by roads and railways to other cities like Chennai, Madurai, etc. Number of educational schools, government arts and engineering colleges are in Bodinayakanur. Bodinayakanur is also known place for famous ancient south Indian temples like Paramasivan temple, Sri Subramanian temple, Athigariyappar temple, to name few. This attracts pilgrims who visit celebrations held once in a year during the month of April and May. Bodinayakanur was the first Legislative assembly of the Chief Minister of Tamil Naidu, Ms J. Jayalalitha and also finance minister of the state is member of legislative assembly from here.
