Peravurani is a town in Thanjavur district in Tamil Nadu. Its average height is 16 metres .You can never find elevations from the sea level in the terrain of this area that is,it is completely flat and this is the only place in Thanjavur district.Its name means big pond i.e.in Tamil periya means big & oorani means pond & has changed collocally as peravurani in old times .Banana & coconuts are also exported from this region to other states in India.The villages situated near this town are very beautiful because these are boundedby coconut plantations. Manora is an 8 storied victory tower. It was constructed by the Maratha King Saraboji in the period of 1814 in tribute to the triumph over the British in surplus of Napoleon Bonaparte at Waterloo. This place is very popular among tourist also. The name of palce Minora derived from word minaret,which known as small minar. Tourist can get a beautiful view of Palm Fringed Bay of bangal from its top. Sometimes it also prove as lighthouse. This beautiful place is located arounf 15 kms away from east of Peravurani. A very famous temple of Lord Sri Neelakanda Moorthy Temple is situated here. The place remains very crowded during the season and festival time.
