Tadepalligudem is one of the growing young cities and mandal or tehsil of the West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. The town is a bustling commercial center with a large number of banks, educational institutions including schools, colleges, engineering and pharmacy colleges, polytechnics etc. there are two main Universities located in the town; the campus of Andhra Pradesh University and Andhra Pradesh Horticultural University with many affiliated engineering and professional colleges.

There are many village panchayats under Tadepalligu and it is the seat of mandal headquarters for these. Agriculture is the main occupation of the people. The chief crops are sugarcane and rice and the region is known as the Annapurna of the state. Jiggery is made from sugarcane and the jiggery so produced is well known and much in demand from the surrounding areas.

Tadepalligudem is well connected to most urban places in Andhra Pradesh and many bus routes of the state transport corporation criss cross in the vicinity. It is now becoming very industrialized and commercialized resulting in it being one of the most densely populated areas of Andhra Pradesh only next to Hyderabad, the state capital. There are many warehouses in the area that store and distribute almost all of the agricultural produce of Andhra Pradesh. The literacy rate of Tadepalligudem is very high and the region is known for its polite and cultured people.
