Dharmapuri is a district of Tamil Nadu southern India. Its existence came from October 10, 1965. This is the district headquarters. Its historically name is "Thakadoor". It covers an area of 4497.77 km. Its surrounded by Krishnagiri District from north, by iruvannamalai District from east. By Viluppuram District and Salem District in south, in west it by Karnataka's Chamarajanagar District. This district covered by all side from hills & forests. It is the ancient part of the Kongu Nadu kingdom. It climate is warm. It has hottest period from March to May, December is the coolest. Here winter season is December to February. Here males are highly educated rather than females. Census declares that main corporations slightly higher than females corporation. It has many government and private schools and education institutes also. Main occupation of this town is agricultural, fishing, handlooms etc. Its main business is granite. It has high quality black granites in Pennagaram, Palacode & Harur blocks. Many types of fishes are available here. Here fishing is ban for domestic only.
