Lakhimpur Kheri is one of the districts of the state of Uttar Pradesh. The district falls under Lucknow Division. It is stretched along the Nepal border. Lakhimpur city is the District’s headquarter.

The district covers an area of about seven thousand six hundred and eighty square kilometers. It has an elevation of about one hundred and forty seven meters. Throughout the entire year, excepting the rainy season, the climate of Lakhimpur Kheri is hot. It is very humid during rains. During the winters, the cold wave grips the place and the nights are extremely cold.

The sugar cane industry of the district is very famous. A large portion of demand for sugar is met by the industries of this district.

The district is home of several endangered and rare species like the Swamp deer, Black deer, Elephants, Hispid hare, one horned Rhinoceros, Leopard cat and Tiger. The Dudhwa National Park and the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve are very famous sanctuaries located in this district.
