Maduranthakam is a popular town in Kancheepuram in Tamil Nadu. It is populr for its man-made & 2ndlargest lake in the state namely, Maduranthakam Lake. As per experts, it is assumed to be constructed by great Uthama Choza, a chola king also known as Maduranthakar, throughout his rule. A famous templeis also located here . Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary is also situated here that houses many rare &endangered species of migrant birds, is located here and is very famous also. Sri Meenakshi Venkateswarar Temple is also situated very near to railway station. Almost 15 km away a village called Madavilagam is situated. Here males are highly educated rather than females. Census declares that main corporations slightly higher than females corporation. It has many government and private schools and education institutes also. Main occupation of this town is agricultural, fishing , handlooms etc. It is not a very big town. However, it is developing day by day but as is it very traditional and cultural no improvement is seen there. Hygiene and sanitation are few areas that needs to be developed to ensure a good health of the people living here and decrease in the number of people falling sick.
