This city was controlled by Solanki Rajputs in 14th and 15t century. This city is situated in south-east corner of the state known as Rajasthan. The climate of this place is very dry leaving out the monsoon season. Average rainfall of this area is 895.2mm. January is considered as a coldest month of this place. There is no metamorphic rock so metallic ore is not found in this area leaving out Bauxite. The area which is covered by forests is 2.17 hectares in this district. The important forests of this area are Gargsari, Salan, Kher and Sagavan etc. Wild and local animals which are famous here are Jackal, Langoor, Samber, Chinkara, Wild Bear, Chital, Bear, Sloth and Panther etc. Main birds of this area are Saras, Peacock which is also a national bird of India, Sparrow, and Bulbul etc. Irrigation for agriculture in this area is mainly from the Wells, Tubewells and Canals as agriculture is the main source of employment in this area. There are 25 Gram Panchayata in this area and this area is also divided into eight sub-divisions.
