This town is one of the famous tehsils of Anantapur district. This is located at a distance of 50 Kilometers from Bellari (Karnataka). This shows that this tehsil bordering the states. During 1963, this place was earmarked for better railway station in future due to its geographical location. Later in 2009 the Guntakal station was converted in to Broad Gauge lines.

In Guntakal two major establishments are there. The second biggest cotton mill is there and a railway diesel shed. A place named Kasapuram is the venue of this temple which is 4 kilometers away from main railways station of Guntakal.
