Moradabad is a city as well as a municipal corporation in the Moradabad district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. According to a report released by the Government of India, Moradabad is one of the Muslim majority of the districts of Uttar Pradesh as well as India according to a census which was conducted in the year 2001. Moradabad is located at a distance of 167 km from the national capital New Delhi and is situated in the banks of the Ramganga River. The city is very famous nationally as well as internationally for its huge exports and also sometimes referred to as the Brass City or Peetal Nagri in the local language.

The district of Moradabad is exactly situated in the east side of the Ganges and is a native state of Rampur. The total area covered by Moradabad district is approximately 2285 square kilometres. In addition to Moradabad town there are other towns in the Moradabad district namely Amroha, Bilari, Sahaspur, Sambhal etc. The principle crops that are grown in the district are millet, pulse, rice, cotton and sugarcane. A third branch of Moradabad city towards Delhi crosses the Ganges at Garhmukteshwar by a long bridge of eleven spans of 200 feet each.
