Fatehpur is situated in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India and the total area covered by this district is 4152 Kilometers Square. The total population of the district according to census 2001 is 2308384 and is situated on the side of holy rivers known as Yamuna and Ganga. The description of Fatehpur can be found in the literature of Puranas where two ghats known as Asni and Bhitora were declared holy. Fatehpur comes under Allahabad Division and is located in between two major cities known as Allahabad and Kanpur. The connectivity of Fatehpur with these two cities is by train as well as road also and is at the distance of 117 kilometers from Allahabad and 76 kilometers from Kanpur by train route.

Earlier the name of this district was Antardesh which refers to fertile area as situated between two major rivers. The three sub-divisions are Khaga, Bindki and Fatehpur which are again divided into thirteen blocks including total population of 2632684. Sex ratio of Fatehpur is nine hundred females per thousand males and literacy rate of district is 68.78%. The very famous places belongs to Fatehpur are Bawan Imali (place belongs to freedom fighters sacrifies). Bhitaura (a religious place), Hathgam, Renh, Shivrajpur, Tenduli, Bindaki, Khajuha, Asothar, Dhamna Khurd etc. This place is famous birth place of many famous personalities such as Hikmar Ullah Khan, Sohan Lal Dwivedi, Dariyaw Singh, Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi, Thakur Jodha Singh Ataiya, Raja Bhagvant Ray Kheechi etc. The district witness many poetic talent belongs to different time period.
