Faizabad district is situated in the Uttar Pradesh state of India and also known as the capital of state Awadh during British period. It is located on the river known as Saryu which is also known as Ghaghra. This Faizabad is the birth place of one legendary woman Umrao Jaan and also one Hindi writer known as Mr. Radhika Prasad Tripathi belongs to the same place. Many other famous personalities like Begum Akhtar, Mir Babar Ali Anis belong to Faizabad. Earlier Faizabad was declared as a capital of Awadh at the time of Saadat Ali Khan First but later on it was shifted to Lucknow by Nawab Asaf-Ud-Dowlah. The income of state during the rule of Saadat Ali Khan First was approximate seventy lacs to two crores.

Faizabad was turned into a well developed city by Nawab Shuja-ud-Daula who was second successor of Saadat Ali Khan as development of many markets, roads; gardens etc had taken place at the time of this rule. The place had attracted many merchants, travelers, writers etc from all over the world. After losing the war of Buxar in the year 1764 Shuja-ud-Daula constructed a fortress near the river Saryu. Faizabad was also a witness of many wars during the time of 1857 and we can get the detailed information about the Faizabad in Tareekh-e-Farahbaksh which was written by a famous writer Munshi Mohd. Faiz Baksh. Except all these the district is famous for one religious place Ayodhya belongs to Lord Rama.
