Zahirabad got its name after the name of PaigahNawabZaheerYar Jung Bhadur.Zahirabad is the municipality in district Medak in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. It is one of the biggest towns of the Medak district located at a distance of 108 km from Hyderabad. Formerly the place was known as BadiEkkhelli. It is the biggest business town located in the Medak district. From Hyderabad, the state capital, Zahirabad is 108 kilometer away by road and by rail it is 133 kilometer away. The town is located at an average elevation of 622 meters or 2040 feet. It lies at 17.68N 77.62E.Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., one of the main Indian Automotive the vehicle manufactures is located near to Zaheerabad. The same company is going to launch a tractor plant with the investment of Rs 300 crores which will employ around 5000 people. On the outskirts of the town n industrial park is under construction which will house around twenty five industries. Industrialization of Zaheerabad has increased the cost of living in the town.

It is an important historic town and houses one of the oldest mosques called Hari masjid which dated back to 400 years. The other important tourist attraction is the waterfall at Jaadimalkapur located 16 kilometers away from Zaheerabad.
