Nabadwip is a metropolis in Nadia district situated in the Indian state of West Bengal. The literary meaning of name is 9 islands in Bengali tounge. Simantadwip, Antardwip, Rudradwip, Godrumdwip, Ritudwip, Madhyadwip, Modadrumdwip, Jahnudwip, and Koladwip are name of these islands. It is a birth place of most of the lilas( pastime of Hindu Gods) . From all over the world devotees comes to this place for the celebration of festivals every year. Nabadwip is located at 23.42N 88.37E. The average height of this place is 14m. It is located on the bank of Bhagirathi and Jalangi rivers on the West shore of the Bhagirathi river. According o the cencus of year 2001, the total population of this place was 175,453, out of which 91,810 were males and 84,654 were females and 13,048 were children of below six years. The literacy rate of this place is 84.47 percent which is higher than national rate of literacy. Many popular schools and educational institutes are situated in this tehsil.People of this place take education very seriously and their main aim is to provide best kind of education for their kids It has three Railway Stations as Nabadwip Dham, and Nabadwip Ghat of Sealdah Division and Bishnupriya of Howrah Division.
