Musiri is a city in the Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu. Its average hieght is 82 metres. It is also called Pseudostom. According to the2011 India census, it had a no. of residents of about 27941where males are 51% of the population and so as females are 50%. Its standard literacy rate is 75% which is more than the national standard literacy rate of 59.5% where male literacy was 82% & female literacy was 70%.Here , 11% of the population falls under the age of 6 years. It is the place of an ancient domestic waterfront of the Cheras who rule here from district Karur throughout the Sangam era. Its original name was " Musukundapuri" given after a Chola ruler, namely, Musukundan. This used to be an evident from the devoted song which was made on the common Vishnu religion in Agrahaaram means the area where Bharamans live. Some other temples are Angaalamman temple , Shiva temple, 3 Maariyamman temples separate by a church & a masjid.Agriculture used to be a major occupation here and it is located on the northern corner of Kaveri river. The harvest comprises sugar cane,paddy, banana & vegetables. It is linked to Kulithalai city through an overpass across river Kaveri.
