Bhadravati is a taluk and industrial town located in shimoga district of Karnataka. Bhadravati lies on the central part of state of Karnataka and tot the south east corner of shimoga district. It is about 255 kilometers from Bangalore and about 20 kilometers from the district. The name Bhadravati came from the river flowing in it which is Bhadra River. This city is earlier known as benkipra and also benki pattana which means city of fire. The water from the Bhadra River and the iron ore helped the city to establish an iron mill and also a paper mill. There are sacred temples present in the city from long time. The average summer temperature is between 25 degree to 37 degree centigrade and the winter temperature will be from 20 to 30 degree centigrade. There are two national highways that pass through the city and they are NH 206 and NH 13. The city Bhadravati is well connected with rail and roads and the nearest airport is hubli which is about 170 kilometers from Bhadravati.
