Dharapuram also known as Rajarajapuram led by the Tanjore Cholas, is a municipality in the Erode district in Tamil Nadu. Dharapuram is among the oldest towns in this district. Dharapuram was previously the capital of Kongu Nadu under the rule of Kongu Cholas. At that time it was called Vanchipuri. TheAmaravathi River flows here. Numerous temples are there in this region.
