Kotputli is a town as well as a municipality in the district of Jaipur in Rajasthan state in India. It is formed by the major town called by the name Kot and the close by village Putli, which is now regarded as a part of the major town. There are people belonging to Ahir community who are in majority found there. It is located on the National Highway-8 which is 165 km from south Delhi and is located 106 kms away from Jaipur. The foundation of Kotputli was laid by the king Tanwar, who ruled there for a long time.

Historically, Kotputli is an ancient as well as a historical place. It had been a part of the kingdom of Matsya which had its capital in the close proximity in a village called Bairat during the times of Mahabharat. During the times of British, Kotputli was considered as a nizamat under Khetri, the princely state. There are a number buildings being constructed by Raja sardar Singh there in Kotputli.

According to the 2001 census of India, male population found here is 53% while females are contributing to 47 % of total population. The average literacy rate of Kotputli is 67% which is higher than the national average literacy rate, however there are much more female literates than male literates.
