Lawngtlai is a small village tehsil of Lawngtlai district in Mizoram. The main occupation of people in this region is agriculture as the land is fertile and devoid of pollution. This area is also rich in herbal and medicinal plants. But the major sect of the population is under the poverty line and is not high school literate too. Though there are schools and colleges available in the area yet the awareness amongst the locals for education is not there as they belong to backward class of scheduled tribes and scheduled castes like Lais, Chakmas, Bawm, Pang etc. The communities have rich cultural heritage yet they need to be made aware of the importance of education. In the same way the health and hygiene conditions in this tehsil has to be looked in to by the Government so that people in this region have better living conditions. Being a part of a developing economy the infrastructure like roads, railways, airways, hospitals, industries etc have to be promoted in this region for the benefit of the tehsil at the same time for the country on the whole. This area can also be developed for tourism for its picturesque surroundings.
