Suryapet is one of the main towns in the district of Nagoda in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The town is commonly known as Bhanupuri and is found on the National Highway. Its distance from two major cities of the state, Vijaywada and Hyderabad is equal. Suryapet engrosses an area of more than 134 km and can be distributed into 41 municipal wards as municipality of special grade. One can find there slum areas among which 44 are notified. Besides the population of the city, the floating population of villages in the vicinity is quite large.

It is interesting to note that the city of Surypet maintains so much cleanliness that is has been awarded for this by not only state government but also Indian Government and was honored with Best Municipality Award by BJP during its reign.

The town of Suryapet is considered as a Revenue division and a new website has been started as www.mysuryapet.com recently. Suryapet or Suriapet consists of an average elevation of 266 metres i.e. 875 ft.

Suryapet is known as Gateway of Telangana and the town was a small place for few inhabitants. Its name at that time was "Bhanupuri" however later on it was renamed as Suryapet.
