Kamuthi , full name is Kavinmigu Mullai Thirunagar.It is a panchayat town in Tamil Nadu, about 90 km away from Madurai. Kamuthi had a population of 13,135 in which males are 48% of the population & females are 52%. Its average literacy rate is 75% which is higher than the national average of 59.5%. Its 12% of the population have children below 6 years of age. Agriculture & animal breeding are the main occupations . There are 19 schools in this region . And an Arts & Science College. People give more importance to education.There are many Hindu temples here, which also include Sri Meenakshi Temple , Sri Kamatchi amman temple and Sri Muthumariamman Temple are superior ones. Muslim festival , Sandhana Koodu & St.Antony's festival by Christians are celebrated mainly here by all the people .It stands for religious harmony. 9 Schools, one cinema hall , a bus stand, one ice factory &3 main business & trade streets are there.Kasara(Sweet), Dry fish, Pakoda , Parotta & Jaggery of this town are very popular. There are Muthumariamman dairy farms also ,which contributes a lot to the economic upliftment of the people.They also export milk to surroundings of Kamuthi & also to Karaikudi, Thirupuvanam, Srivilliputhur, Madurai and Aruppukkottai.
