Panruti is a municipality , taluk headquarters & town of Cuddalore district . Panruti is located in middle of  Viluppuram & Cuddalore. It is famous for Cashews & Jack fruit. The Jack fruit is very sweet and is exported world wide. It is famous as a business center of Cuddalore district.It is located on the central line of high ways. It is only 12 kms away from NH-45 highway. It has an average height of 32 metres . The Kedilam River flows all the way through the town. Its name Panruti comes from the word 'pannargal' which means a word for people who created music in ancient times. It produces many vegetables , cashews & jackfruit. As a result, it plays a major role in exporting cashews, mainly, to Singapore, Malaysia, , the United States & Australia. It is also well-known for its famous international jackfruit market. On the other hand, it is also a commercial center of Cuddalore district. The famous Rathinampillai market located in the middle of the city attracts many people everyday as soon as it starts from morning 5 a.m. Veeratteswarar temple situated in nearby Thiruvathigai is the famous holy place here.This temple is known as the place where Lord shiva destroyed 3 demons .
