Karauli is a town located in the state of Rajasthan, India. This town is regarded as the administrative center of the district of Karauli and was initially considered as the erstwhile capital of Karauli, the princely state. It comprises of an average elevation of 275 m.

History

This town dates back to 1348, and is located in such a way that it is naturally protected by ravines in the northern as well as eastern direction, whereas it is defended further by large wall as well. The palace of Maharaja is a beautiful block of buildings, where few of them dates back to the late 18th century.The town of Karauli was discovered by Maharaja Arjun Dev Yadav in the year 1348.

Geography

It engrosses an areaa of about 674 km2 and comprises of an elevation of 475 meters.

Climate

The climate of Karauli is subtropical type, having a dry climate with different summers, winters as well as monsoon.

The highest temperature in the months of May and June is found to be 49.0C wheras the minimum temperature found here is 20.0 C which can be experienced in the month of January.

The average rainfall found is about 800 mm and the monsoons can be experienced from the months of July to September.
