Wyra is a city as well as mandal lying in Khammam district, which is located in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It lies at a distance of 25 km from Khammam, the district headqurter. According to the Indian census of 2001, the population of Wyra was 112,205, out of which 57,984 are males and rest are females. The average literacy rate of Wyra is 60.59. The average literacy rates of males and females are 70.20% and 50.73% respectively. This city is well-known for its bumper agriculture. From religious point of view, Wyra is very famous. The temple of Lord Ayyappa lies on the highway lying between Khammam and Wyra. Apart from this, there exist several other famous temples. One such temple is of Lord Rama, which is situated nearby old bus station. The statue of lord Hanuman, which is 48 feet high and is second largest statue in the continent of Asia, lies in Ayyappa temple. The reservoir of Wyra is situated closest to this city. This reservoir is one of the major attractions for tourists in Khammam. It is believed that this reservoir was dug in the year of 1929. Educationally, this city is highly developed. There exist many prominent colleges in Wyra. Some of them are A.P.S.W.R. junior college, Kranthi junior college, Madhu junior college, Rabindranath Tagore Vidyalayam.
