Mahavir Jayanti

Mahavir Jayanti is also acknowledged as the Mahavir Janma Kalnayak. It is a day rejoiced by the Jain society on the birthday of Mahavira, it is one of the consecrated holiday. Mahavira was born on 13th day of the Chaitra month born into royal family son of Siddhartha and Trishala.

Mahavira was final Tirthankar who worked towards the liberation of the Jain society. He left his home while he was thirty in hunt of mystical awakening. He trained meditation and self-punishment for 12 years after which he attained supreme knowledge as known as Kevala it is one of the excellence which is covered by the karmic element that borders the soul.

Mahavira toured all around the world for next thirty years to preach his philosophy of Ahimsa means not to injure, Satya means absolute truth, Asteya means non-stealing, Brahmacharya means behaviour that leads to be a noble and Aparigraha means non possessiveness. Mahavira achieved Nirvana or peace of mind till the age of seventy two. He was one of the most renowned communicator. He is mainly known as improver of Jainism.

History

Queen Trishala Mother of Mahavir believed to have lot of propitious dreams while she was pregnant which signified arrival of the great leader. As per the Jainism preaching in school svetambhara believe the precise number of dreams was thirteen while as per Dighambaras it is fourteen. Irrespective the dreams astrologers predicted that child would either become a ruler or Tirthankar which means a human being who assist in attaining freedom and brightness. It is believed that queen Trishala gave birth to Mahavira; The Indra god gave bath to the child Mahavira with spiritual milk, which marks as a customary of Tirthankar.

It is believed that the preaching of Tirtankara’s are pure, their inner most knowledge do not oppose one another. The advance the spiritual knowledge lesser the explanation required for the purity of the society.

Celebrations & Rituals

Jain community celebrates birthday of Mahavir as Mahavira Jayanti. On this day the idol of Mahavira are given a customary bath known as Abhishek. People from Jain community involve into charity in remembrance of Mahavira. People visit the temple to offer prayer for peace of mind and meditate. Messages are passed in form of speeches to orate the path of good quality. Donation are been collected in respect any act or to promote any task like helping poor or helping cow from killing.

Jain temple also known as Dehrasar are often crowded on the birthday of Mahavira as number of devotees visit temple on Mahavira Jayanti.
