Feast Of St Thomas The Apostle

St. Thomas was one of the twelfth apostles of Jesus Christ. As per the official Gospel after the revival of Gospel Jesus send eleven Apostles of Disciple to spread his wisdom in nation. St. Thomas was one of the apostles. St. Thomas the Apostle was also known as Didymus he was best known for interrogating Jesus, revival of Jesus when first said to him, trailed by its admission of faith as both My God and My lord on visualising and touching Jesus noticeable and physical injured body in the Gospel. St Thomas the Apostle travelled faraway places including India for preaching.

History

According to the customs St Thomas the Apostle visited India in AD 52 and christened several people who are today recognised as St Thomas Christens or Nasranis. St Thomas was killed by the spear a sharp weapon made up of wood with sharp edge. The remaining artefacts of St Thomas the apostles were preserved in India and later carried to different places including Italy where they have been detained in the church of St Thomas The Apostles. He was been recognised as a supporter St of India and so most of the names in christens are named as Thomas.

As per the Gospel of John Apostles do not wish to visit Judea the land of Israel where Jewish had endeavoured to stone Jesus Christ. St Thomas the Apostles Said that let us also goes there, we may also die with him”. St Thomas expresses again for There in the gospel of John. Jesus has just enlightened that he is going away to make a heavenly house for all his supporters, and that 1 day they will unite him there. St Thomas responds by saying Lord we don’t know where are you going so how come we know the way.

Celebrations & Rituals

The Eastern Churches celebrates feast of St Thomas the Apostles on 6th October, adding to it the next Sunday post Easter is also celebrated as St Thomas day in remembrance of the question of Saint Thomas to Jesus which directed him to assert 2 natures human and heavenly of Jesus Christ. St Thomas day is celebrated commonly on 30th June in all apostles and believers and is celebrated as feast day.

On the feast of Saint Thomas the Apostles Christian community offers a special prayer in the church in the remembrance of St Thomas.
