Powayan, a town located 27 kms from Shahajahanpur was founded by Raja Udai Singh who was the son of Bhupat Singh, leader of Gaur Rajputs. Gaur Rajputs were the people who settled in Sitapur after the assaultment of Persian raider Bhaktiar Khilji 1205. Powayan is also the present district of Shahajahanpur is largest Rajput state in the east Rohilkhand where the migrants of Gaur Desh of West Bengal resides.after the assaultment the people scattered in Northern and Central India
