Datia is a tehsil of Datia district in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It is situated near Gwalior and also on the border of Uttar Pradesh. Approximately it is 25kms far from the city of Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh. This region is considered as administrative centre of Datia district and also formerly seat of eponymous state in the British Raj. The tehsil is surrounded by a stone wall which is enclosed by beautiful and handsome palaces and gardens. Moreover this tehsil also has an ancient Bir Singh Deo Palace which is one of the finest examples of Hindu domestic architecture. Tourists will find few historical, religious and enjoyable places in this region like Peetambara Peeth, Sonagiri, Buglamukhi Devi temple, Vankhadeshwar temple and Dhumavati Mai temple. Additionally this region is also famous for edible oil, chaat and some sweets like barfi, rabdi, gulab jamun and moti chur laddu.
