Ajmer district is located in Western India of Rajasthan state. This district is surrounded by four other districts such as, Tonk districts and Jaipur are to the east, Pali District to the west, Nagaur district to the north and Bhilware district is situated to the south of Ajmer.

According to the year 2011 census the population of Ajmer district is 2,584,913 approximately. This population is divided by three main groups such as, Hindus, Jains and Muslims. Ajmer city is the headquarters of Ajmer district which, comes under Ajmer division.

The total area of Ajmer is about 8,481km. Raja Ajay Pal Chauhan was the person who founded Ajmer in 10th century. From then, the Chauhan’s dynasty was established and that continued to rule the country. While Prithviraj Chauhan was known to be the most acclaimed ruler in the Indian History.

This district has five main villages that are categorized such as,

• Gordha
• Sursura
• Kanpura, Rajasthan
• Tilonia

Ajmer, Beawar, kekri and kishnagarh are the four sub-divisions of this district. In this region there are several valleys that are sandy deserts as; these are part of India’s Thar Desert. There is irregular oasis cultivation with some fertile land. This valley is blessed with an artificial lake that is surrounded and protected by serpent rock or known as nagpathar forms a barricade across the sand. There are four small rivers that intersect this district such as, Saraswathi, Sagarmathi, Khari and Dai. Ajmer has several places of interest such as, Taragraph Fort, Akbar’s Palace and Nasiyam Jain Temple etc.
