Tonk is district headquarters and a division too in the state of Rajasthan. This division is located at a distance of 95 kilometers from Jaipur. Banas river flows through the area which is also like a lifeline for farmers. This place was known as Princely area between 1817 till India got independence. This division is located on NH-12. Geographical coordinates of this area sufficient enough to provide a harsh weather. This area is located between 75.19' & 76.16 East longitude and 25.41' and 26.24' North Latitude. In view of natural resources, this division is rich as some mines of Sandstone are existing here. Communal harmony is another main reason for development of this division. This area was under the Mughal reign and Muslim community also resides here with prosperity. A large Jama Masjid is located here and the architecture of this mosque has Mughal style. Sunahari Kothi, Arabic Persian Research Centre is also located in this division. Famous Journalist Mr. Kapoor Chand Kulish founded the famous magazine Rajasthan Patrika. Later this magazine converted into Hindi newspaper. Another specialty of this division is the solid network of roads. A dense and solid web of link roads is spread within the tehsil and connected with state highways and national highways too. With the help of these roads, the connection from neighboring cities and states can easily be established.
