This district is an integral part of Bareilly division. It is spread over an area of 5168 km. As per the Indian census of 2011, the population of this town was 3,712,738. The density of population is about 718 people per km. The sex ratio of Budaun is 859 females per 1000 males. The literacy rate of this district is nearly 67.91%. This district consists of six major tehsils. They are Sahaswan, Budaun, Gunnaur, Dataganj, Bilsi and Bisauli. This district is mostly inhabited by Yadavs and Muslims. The urban areas of Budaun are Kakrala, Sahaswan, Ujhani and Budaun city. There exist seven constituencies of Vidhan Sabha. They are Bisauli, Gunnaur, Bilsi, Sahaswan, Shekhupur, Budaun and at last Dataganj. In the year 2006, the ministry of panchayati raj declared Budaun as countrys 251s peculiar funded town. Budaun is also counted among 34 district of Uttar Pradesh, which are presently getting funds from Backward Regions Grant Fund Programmed. As per conspicuous historian hailing from Britain, George Smith, this district was rechristened after the great prince, Ahir prince Budh. The thoroughfare of this district is peaceful. There are many reputed schools and colleges for the students. There also exist some recreational places like parks, hotels and historical monuments.
